Due to the GREAT people working with our adoptable pets at K.A.H we are able to find homes for most of our strays.
Please drop by or visit us and many other shelters with adoptable animals on Pet Finder to see up-to-date pictures and biographies on pets we have available. Thank You!
The majority of our pets come to us from the Kittery, Eliot, and York Animal Control Officers as strays who have been rescued from an uncertain life outdoors fending for themselves. With their stray backgrounds, we make every effort to get them into loving, caring indoor pet-friendly homes. Our goal is to make sure that the remainder of their lives is safe, warm, and well cared for, because of that we do reserve the right to turn down adoptive homes that may not be particularly well suited for certain pets.
How to adopt:
Our adoptions are on a first come first serve basis, we do not hold pets. We require that you fill out an adoption application which allows us to be able to better fit out pets to the most ideal homes for their own needs and the needs of the adoptive family.
We do have a 2 day waiting period for the application to be reviewed, as well as to make sure that you and your family are ready to bring a new pet into your home; it is a big commitment that shouldn’t be taken lightly.
After reviewing the application we will give you a call to let you know if you have been approved, and pending approval set up a time to come and pick up your new pet.
We offer a free exam within 10 days to 2 weeks with one of our Veterinarians to go over any questions you may have about your new pet, as well as update any vaccines that are due. If your pet has not be spayed or neutered we do require a $50.00 deposit that will be put towards your surgery here.
Please call with all inquiries, or to set up an appointment to meet any of our adoptable pets. (207) 439-4158 Here are just a few of the pets we have adopted out to wonderful homes already, please call for an updated list as availability does change without notice.
